Depending on the type of thread we use and the person, it can take between 3 and 8 months to be totally reabsorbed by the organism, but the effects of collagen and elastin induction that they naturally generate can last between 1 year and a half and 2 years. As soon as they are applied, the results improve over the months, due to the setting and stabilisation of the fibrosis process they cause, generating a revitalising action that visibly improves the texture of the skin tissues.
What does the tensioning wires technique consist of?
The technique consists of the intradermal implantation of multipleresorbable and biocompatible yarns resorbable and biocompatible threads by means of a needle, which when removed leaves the thread inside our skin, creating a net that acts as a support and causes a lifting effect (stretching).
Types of tensioning wires
There are different types of threads, according to length, thickness and materials they are made of, but to simplify it we could classify them into 3 groups:
- Non-spun monofilament or multifilament yarns (PDO): These are the simplest, simple threads of surgical material that we place at dermis level so that they regenerate collagen when reabsorbed by the skin.
- Spiculated yarns: Small spicules are placed along the path of the thread to anchor it to the skin in order to tighten the tissue and fix the areas that have fallen due to flaccidity.
- Cone yarns:These would be one step ahead of the spicules as they replace the spicules with small cones that will give more support to the fabric allowing for the lifting of older skins that need more support.
Which are the most appropriate for me?
As always, the most important thing is that you to go to a well qualified Cosmetic Doctor to get the most appropriate diagnosis for your case. In our experience at Clínica Áureo, in general, we can indicate that non-spiculated PDO threads will be used, normally, in people between 35 and 45 years of age, when the first signs of flaccidity and collagen loss appear, and on the other hand, spiculated or cone threads will be more indicated for people over 45 years of age, who usually present a much more pronounced skin sagging or flaccidity.
To enhance the results, in many cases, this treatment can be combined with other techniques of aesthetic medicine and bioplasty (volumisation).
